The Louise Duncan Lifetime Achievement Award in the Arts honors those whose life’s work reflects the vision and values of its namesake, a commitment to preserving culture, fostering creativity, and ensuring that future generations inherit a vibrant artistic legacy.
For decades, Mr. McAnulty’s artwork has done far more than fill canvases and walls. He has preserved history, celebrated Black culture, and given voice to the stories of our community. Randy’s vibrant paintings and public murals have become landmarks throughout Denver, transforming everyday spaces into places of reflection, pride, and inspiration. Whether through works like Dark Fist in Northeast Park Hill at Hiawatha Davis Jr. Recreation Center or your community centered murals created alongside students, his art reminds us that creativity has the power to educate, unite, and uplift.
Randy McAnulty has long been a fixture in Denver’s artistic community, capturing the rhythm of jazz, the beauty of Five Points, and the resilience of Black life with authenticity and grace. His work reflects not only extraordinary talent but also a profound love for this city and the people who call it home.
